Message from the Manager

Welcome to the Multicultural Sudanese Centre (MSC) website. It has been great getting to know some of you and visited several Magrant Resource Centres, Community Orgnasations, Government Agencies, Educational Schools and Research Centres. Thanks for the warm welcome.

In the last nine years, the MSC has expanded its activities to support Sudanese Victorians in a wide range of social services: driver education, housing support services, Centrelink advocacy, accompanying community members on medical visits, running its own English and Arabic classes, school holiday activity programs, basketball and soccer activies, Homework club, Arabic and Dinka Language School, women's activity groups, cultural activities and organizing a ground-breaking Sudanese Australian Social Issues Forum in September 2007.

The MSC maintains many partnerships with other key community organisations working in the Council areas of Hobson Bay, Brimbank and Moonee Valley.

The MSC operates the MSC Homework Club from 12 Holland Court, Flemington, and at West Sunshine Community Centre. Both locations feature large, open workspaces with tables and chairs facilitating a range of homework-oriented activities. The MSC provides materials in the form of exercise books, graded reading books, pens and art supplies.

The MSC Homework Club is run with a volunteer staff of tutors drawn from the Sudanese Community and the wider Victorian community.The tutors manage the students' need for guidance as they complete their school homework, providing one-on-one support as necessary, and organizing group activities as required.

The MSC adminsters the Homework Club, along with its other activities, from its office at 12 Holland Court. The office, run by MSC Committee members, provides computer, internet and office adminstrative support materials needed to run the programs.
